With colder days upon us, your skin can look a little worse for the wear. Here are 3 simple but crucial beauty tips to keep glowing throughout the season.
Cold wintry winds can quickly dry out your skin and lead to flaky patches and build up of dead surface skin cells, leading to irritation, breakouts, and overall dullness. Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells and promotes healthy blood circulation, keeping your skin smooth and radiant. Use an organic facial scrub or natural loofah every other day, followed by a good moisturizer, to keep the dryness at bay.
2. Get Balmed.
Lip balmed, that is. Your face isn't the only area that can dry out and go dull as winter approaches; our lips are often the first to suffer the worst of the season. Extreme dryness, flaking, discomfort, and even bleeding are common complaints of chapped lip sufferers, so make sure you invest in a high-quality lip balm and apply it directly or over your lipstick to keep your pout from drying out. Many of today's lip balms come in a variety of pretty tints (try evolution of smooth today), so you can add a swipe of color along with your daily protection.
3. Up Your SPF Game.
Summer isn't the only time that harmful UV rays can wreak havoc on your skin and potentially lead to skin cancer. The sun's rays are just as damaging in colder months, especially when reflected off clean white snow. Dangerous UV rays attack the skin’s natural elasticity, which weakens skin from bouncing back, leading to wrinkles and a dry, leathery texture, as well as broken blood vessels and splotchy discoloration. Make sure to apply a paraben-free SPF moisturizer of at least 30+ before going out, and don't forget your lips!
