On Monday in part one of wedding disasters I talked about my Ruined Wedding Dress. Today in part two I thought I would share with you two other disasters that I encountered.
This was honestly something that never crossed my mind as a potential disaster. When the idea of having house guests first entered my mind. I could only think of positive things. For instance I thought of the great quality time we could have, I thought about how much help they would be with the wedding, and I thought about how much fun we would have setting up for the wedding. However when it came down to it this was just another disaster.
For the entire month of July I had house guests. Unknowing to myself this would make more of a difference than I would have thought. I had to take more time off of work than I originally anticipated and I also wasn't able to dedicate time to making sure my wedding was getting planned like how I wanted it. My time instead was taken and focused towards meeting the needs of others. It was my job to make sure they were eating and entertained for the entire day. I was under the impression that knowing my wedding was coming up and that I work a 24 hours/7 days a week job. That I would be shown a little love and be helped or at least left alone when I needed it.
Having house guests present on the day of my wedding was also a comical mess. Time was ticking by and we were on a very time sensitive schedule. However my guests just stood around all morning. I didn't get the help I needed when it came to cleaning or decorating. It was an hour before I was supposed to leave for the church when I walked out of my room half dressed to see that my house guests were not even dress and ready to go. I did not for see myself having to baby others on my wedding day. It was honestly just one big crazy mess.
The Set Up -- Decorating
I had a vision for what I wanted the wedding to feel and look like. Although with all of my house guest, their continuous opinions, my time sensitive schedule, exhaustion, and frustration. I found myself walking further and further away from my vision. Which in the end only wasted, my families and I's time, energy, and money. It is no ones fault, but my own. I do believe that it would have been easier to stay truer to my vision if I had made a vision board. Instead of having a mental picture. I believe this would have been easier for everyone to understand and I would have been able to stay closer to my original vision.
My 25th Vowel Renewal Wedding Ceremony was aside from all of the disasters absolutely perfect. I got to renewal my vowels to my beloved husband. I got to share and celebrate the ceremony with my children. I also had the opportunity to ring in our 25th year with life long friends. While yes, there were definitely some things that I would do over differently. I still had a great 25th and am so excited for another 25 years.

About a week ago I made mention that my life has been a little hectic and drifting from my normal routine. If you haven't head over and read "How To Get Back On Track When The Unexpected Happens". Knowing that I am not the only one the experiences things like this. I decided to share my tricks on how to battle such a scenario. One of the things I mentioned that might help was to spend alone time with the loved ones in your life. This will help you Give and Get some one on one attention. It will not only remind them that you love them, but it will also help you to see that things will settle back down. Today I thought I would share how my daughter and I chose to spend our alone time together.
We both truly Love Supporting Independent Retailers. So we thought that it would be the perfect idea to visit our local shops and spend some time together. One of our favorites is Red's Boutique it is located just a door or so down from our own. We love Our downtown area in Oak Harbor. This was the perfect way to spend some good quality time together.
Our day out was going smoothly. We chatted, shopped, and explored, but when it came time for lunch that's when things took a turn for the hilarious.
The independent restaurant that we chose to enjoy lunch at. Has a cozy and intimate set up. Meaning that the table are placed relatively very close to each other. After a few minutes the table directly behind us was occupied by an older woman and man.
I was not intentionally ease dropping on their conversation. However when the man wanted to make something very clear. He would raise his voice and make sure to annunciate. This mixed with the close proximity we found ourselves in. I could hear clearly what he was saying. The fist statement I heard was, "If you marry me you will get an extra $1,000 dollars a month in retirement". I couldn't help, but laugh!
Is that really a selling point when you get older? Is that how you convince someone to marry you? I couldn't stop myself from thinking WTF. Judging by the uninterested look my lunch companion had. I knew that she did not hear what the man had said to the woman. So I did the most polite thing I could think of and texted my daughter. That alone is laughable. We are literally having a secret conversation while sitting directly across from each other. Just when we thought this strange chance for some laughter was over. The man then begins a sentence with the statement, "Based off of your spending habits". I couldn't help, but come to a complete stop in thought and actually process what this man had said to the women he was having lunch with. In all I could not believe that I was over hearing such a conversation. Never have I ever heard a man propose a marriage to a another in this manner nor have I ever heard someone use money as a pro to being with them. This was a new and interesting experience for me. One that was baffling and that provided a little laughter.
As Our Lunch Came To An End
As we exited the restaurant we busted out into laughter. I have been happily married for 25 years so common protocol for how to date eludes me. From curiosity and intrigue we came up with ideas to write about how to tell how old you are while your dating.
Here is our fun little list.
