I often get asked where I write our blog posts at and how I come up with the topics for our blog posts. What better day than a Fall Wednesday to share with you a behind the scenes look into what we do and how we do it.
That cashier stand you stand at to check out is also my desk. It gets messy and overloaded with paperwork. Sometimes when I'm researching it will have three different devices open at the same time! I find the quite mornings to be the perfect opportunity to write. Writing for me is an outlet for my individuality. It's a way to share who I am with all of you as well as a way to connect with you on a more personal level. It's not just about shopping with us, it's about sharing our passion, sharing our love for the job, and about about getting to know you!
Working From Home
I am extremely fortunate to have the business partners I have. They make down time and days where I work form home possible. If I'm working from home I will usually snuggle up in bed with a cup of coffee and write. Although I much prefer writing long into the night. There's just something about the quite and stillness of night that inspires me to be the best me that I can be. When I can I do take time to read, reading opens my mind to the possibilities around me. It allows for the flow of words to come a little easier and with more clarity. In these moments you might find me curled up on the couch or out in the back porch.
Inspiration is a hard one. I read to open up my mind. While other times I may go for a walk. The truth is that by opening up my mind to any and all possibilities I discover that inspiration is all around me. It is present within a chat with the barista who made my morning coffee. It is within the smile that a stranger gave me as I passed her down the aisle of my local grocery store. It is even sometimes the lack of human interaction that sparks inspiration for me.
With all three of those interactions I find the possibilities endless.
Lets start with The Barista who made my coffee this morning. The shop she works at is not convenient. I have to get out of my car and walk in to grab my daily cup of joe. I make sure that I leave for work early just so that she specifically will make my coffee and here's why. Here is also possible blog topics for me to write about.
1. She has taken the time to get to know me
2. She has taken the time to let me get to know her.
3. She knows my drink
Taken those thoughts I can come of with Article Titles
1. 5 Ways to stay motivated in a job you love
2. What does fantastic customer service look like?
3. tips and tricks to keep you going even when you don't want too
It's a 5 minute interaction at best. She's really fast and amazing at her job.
So it never takes very long yet here she is my inspiration!
The lady who smiled at me as I walked down the aisle of the grocery store is an inspiration. It was a passing gesture, something that was polite, sweet and very endearing.
What inspiration can you find within that 10 second interaction with a total stranger who has probably long forgotten you?
Well here's what subjects come to me when I really get down and think about it.
1. What The power of a smile can accomplish
2. 10 ways to share love with the world around you
3. Its always the small things that create the biggest impact
That was maybe 10 seconds you guys. It was a quick pass in an aisle. Yet that smile has the ability to be an inspiration. So smile and be someone's inspiration for today!
Yesterday I was scrolling down liking pictures from our Instagram family and I saw a small trend. It's nothing to drastic and one I noticed probably because I am a mom, but I noticed that lots of parents where sharing pictures of their children. Some of these pictures had the kids dressed in school uniforms. Some of these school uniforms had the names of the schools on them and some of those post had the name of their children on them. See where I'm going with this? I personally believe that is quite a bit of personal information about your child to be putting out there. I love posts about families, I love that people are willing to share there small and large happy moments with me. However my concern for what I believe to be mistakenly oversharing of personal information sparked a few ideas.
1. How to safe Gard your child's identity while sharing pics
2. 10 tips for Online safety for families
3. Why I chose not to allow my children to have a Facebook Account
The majority of my articles don't actually get published. I find that after I write up a draft I either do not like it or I think that it doesn't make sense for our platform. So I choose to toss it in the recycling bin and continue forth.
Inspiration is all around me and it sparks in the most unlikely of scenarios.
The majority of our topics for our articles are from our everyday life. It is something we saw, experienced, or something that held some kind of meaning to us.
What situations spark inspiration for you?
I love sharing with you guys!
There has been immense change here at ThavinMarcob since last Fall. We have happily grown and learned so much more. We have also happily met so many new and amazing people. It is always refreshing and exciting when you have the opportunity to make new friends. One great aspect of making new friends is learning what makes them the unique and individual person they are.
Today I thought I would share with you my favorite Fall Colors.
Please share yours too I would live to know.
Favorite Fall Colors
My Go To Always
My year-round go to color is black. I like to refer to it as my Signature Color.
What is your Signature Color?
I love absolutely love dark greens! I find something magical about an emerald green. I have also in the last year or two started to develop a deep love for olive greens. I just love the chic calming natural tone they have.
Deep dark reds have my heart in the Fall. I can't help, but to silently appreciate anyone who ventures into the vampy sultry red family.
3. Soft White
A soft white is a classic for me. While it effortlessly works for all seasons. I find that for some reason soft white and I have this connection in the Fall. It makes me feel crisp, which I know is an odd word to feel like. However that what it makes me feel like. Envision strolling down a leaf encased colorfully coated side walk. Image a cool breeze softly brushing up against your face giving your checks a slight red blush. As your feet pick up and set back down on the leaf filled runway. Hear the crunch of these beautiful crisp orange, red, and yellow leaves as you stroll further into the Autumn Season. That is what soft white makes me feel like or in my mind that "crisp".
What are your favorite Fall colors?
Do we have any in common?
I would love to know so please share.
I hope you have a great day!
Everyone at some point has come across an article, book, blog, or study that explains the characteristics/traits that all successful people posses. While some will share some new piece of information, most give there creative take on the same information. I have read quite a few of these types of articles and studies. So today I thought it would be fun to share with you what are some of the traits that ThavinMarcob utilizes in order to touch success.
How often do you find yourself picking up a book?
I personally love to read. It is one of my favorite pass times. So this trait is an easy on for me to adopt into my routine because it is already apart of it.
It is the #1 thing that is always recommended when it comes to being successful. Expanding ones mind of information and knowledge will help you to have a greater chance for success.
Our moto at Thavin & Marcob is,
"Always Learning Always Growing".
We know that we do not know everything and we know that every situation has the value for new knowledge. Which is why we never pass up on or take for granted a learning opportunity. For these opportunities help us to better ourselves for the future.
Being able to overcome fear is a huge and incredibly important trait that is common with people that feel success. It is also one that I try my best to posses. I am only human, I do feel fear and I sometimes let that fear drive my choices in life. However the more I remind myself to not let fear control me the more I take charge of my own destiny. It can be easy to play on the safe side and to not take fearful risks, but one must remember that success rarely lives in the safe zone.
Being an early riser has its benefits. I personally try to wake up between 6-7 am in the morning. Sometimes I do hit that snooze button a few too many times, but for the most part I wake up when I am supposed to. I tend to only need 5/7 hours of sleep so this trait isn't a far stretch from my normal personality.
In today's day and age is it easy to become distracted rather quickly. Which can make working on a project that require all of your focus hard to accomplish in a timely manner. One thing that I read time and time again is that staying focused on your goals at hand is an important trait that breads success. I do not think that I posses laser focus. I also fall victim to the distractions of today's charm. In order to ensure that I keep focus and not risk distractions I power house through projects. This way I can get a majority of it done making sure I hit all of the highlights and then if I need to go back later and fill in the little parts that are missing.
This is how ThavinMarcob and myself utilize the traits that successful people posses.
What traits have you learned about that breads success that we did not mention?
Do you use any to help you succeed in any part of your life?
Yesterday my daughter had some free time to go explore and adventure outside. After seeing the photos see took you could say that I was filled with a little jealousy. Although only a little because I do absolutely love my job. I am happy my daughter had an amazing Fall Adventure day in nature and I hope you enjoy her photos like I do.
She spotted a beautifully spectacular Whidbey Island Rock.
Dose anyone else see popcorn in the lower middle image?
Happy Friday Everyone!
Share with us some snaps of your Fall Adventure.
One of my favorite aspects of Fall is feeling the temperature begin to drop a few degrees. I absolutely love the cold weather and welcome it with open arms. When the time presents itself I do like to indulge in a toasty warm spiked beverage every now and again.
I thought today I would share with you my current go to recipes
for that deliciously warm perfect Fall spiked beverage.
Delectiable Hot Apple Cider
Hot apple cider alone makes my mouth water with just it's delicious smell.
Recently we were experimenting and realized that paired with Brandy
an adult friendly Fall themed cup of goodness is born.
If you find yourself hosting a party this Fall. Mugs of Delectable Hot Apple Cider is the beverage choice everyone is sure to love. If you have the time try and make it from scratch. I know that I am definitely going to try sometime this season.
Make It Photo Worthy
I'm always too excited to warm up my belly with this sweet apple cider concoction to make it
"photo worthy", but if you're feeling it. Decorate your mug of hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick or with a slice of apple.
Ticklish Sweet Hot Chocolate
This is a recipe that my husband and 22 year old daughter crafted one evening before a family movie night. I'm not a huge fan of Hot Chocolate, but I've got to admit this one is quite the cup of scrumptious sweetness.
Make It Photo Worthy
Sprinkle a few marshmallows over the top or you luscious cup of coco. Take it a bit further and drizzle chocolate sauce over the top or dust over some coco powder.
A Heavenly Good Morning
Now this is one of my all time favorites that I have been drinking for years. I absolutely love coffee. I honestly maybe drink too much a day, but I just can not go for long without a steaming caffeinated cup of coffee in reach.
Make It Photo Worthy
Drizzle over chocolate or caramel sauce. If you're in it to win it dazzle your friends by accenting your cup with milk froth or chocolate shavings.
I hope you enjoy our recipes.
Make sure to tag us if you make some this Fall.
Have any favorites of your own?

A Step in the Right Direction
Here's one outfit that I honestly didn't think that I would like until I put it on.
The Love My Day Maroon really surprised me with how comfortable I felt in it. So yeah it is my shop, but I felt extremely compelled to still purchased this amazing outfit.
Spicing Up the Old
I love our Pop of Red Sweater. I think it is an easy and comfortable way to effortlessly add in that pop of color into your outfit. I also find that paired with our Classic Black Cardigan and my old pair of legging I was able to assemble a comfortable chic office outfit.
Here's where you can order yourself one of those amazing trendy vest, and if your looking for more of a classic look check out this black one although we do only have a few left so if that's your choice don't wait too long to order yours. I'm not planning on getting those back in stock this season!
My New Fall Loves

Autumn as all of you probably know by now with my continuous reminders is my absolute favorite time of the year. Every years I make sure to write up a list of activities that I plan to do during the Fall season. I do not think I have ever really explained why I do it and why I choose to share it with you.
So I thought why not do so today.
Here are my reasons for why I write up and share my Fall List with you every year.
As well as my list for this Fall.
My schedule is pretty pack from day to day. There is always something that requires my attention and something that needs to be done. With this non stop trend of always being in demand I can easily get swept up in it all and lose so much time. I find lists personally extremely helpful. They help to organize my thoughts and efficiently delegate my time. Which is why I write lists upon lists for all sorts of things. As many of you know Fall is my favorite season of the year. There are so many activities that I would love to do during the Fall months. Although with my schedule being what it is. I can easily and without notice watch the season come and go because I am wrapped up in accomplishing tasks and projects. A while ago I was tired of losing a majority of the season. I also would want to do certain activities, but then forget about them until the Fall season was long gone. As a way to combat my hectic schedule, my chaotic brain, my love for Fall activities, and my forgetfulness. I started creating a Fall List. Which depicts all of the activities that I want to enjoy during the season.
My Fall List
1) Complete my first Hard Trail with my daughter.
2) Enjoy a warm cup of coffee outside with friends.
3) Visit a Pumpkin Patch/Corn Maze.
4) Watch a spooky movie with my two youngest sons.
5) Bake Fall themed treats for my lovely family.
6) Go on a Hay Ride.
7) Complete the secret ThavinMarcob projects I've been working on.
8) Take a neighborhood stroll with my pups so they too can enjoy the falling leaves.
9) Indulge in a brunch outside.
10) Observe the beautiful bird the PNW has to offer.
What are some activities that you would like to do this season.

Self Care is something that is often overlooked even thought it does truly hold much importance. When the kids where younger and my husband traveled out of town for work. I confidently considered myself the queen of 15 minute selfcare ideas!

The Fall wardrobe prep for me started happening earlier this month. I am so excited that Fall is finally here. Fall is the season for me. I love adventuring into the mountains, going on long walks on the beach, and of course cool night hangouts on the porch.
Fall is here and now it is time to showcase my revamped weather appropriate wardrobe.
I'm usually a scarf kind of girl. I like to change out the colors and textures. Making for an easy chic Fall Look. Although this year I found the most amazing piece of fashion ever. I would say if you only buy one piece of fashion this Fall. This is the one you are going to want in my opinion.
1. It will easily go into winter.
2. It has pockets so you can stash your gloves, wallet etc...
3. There is a hood! Yes a freaking hood!
Which is a perfect addition if you're in the northwest like I am.
3. It is thick like a poncho, but has way less material which is a huge plus for me and my short frame.
Transforming Back Pack - Satchel - Purse
What a convertible bag! No idea how I lived without this my whole life!
I mean I'm so spontaneous about hopping out of the car for adventures. It never occurred to me to look for such an amazing transforming bag that would be the perfect
companion for any and all adventures.
1. This baby is convertible need I say more...
2. This Bag is so beautiful in its stylish compartments. It is quite easy to go from the office to adventure in the matter of seconds.
3. It's an American Designer, here at ThavinMarcob Love American Designers.
Every Day Dress
This dress is basic, cute, and beautiful in color. It's versatile to the core. Pair great with heels, sneakers, leggings, or tights. You can dress it up with a leather jacket or dress it down with a jean jacket and still look just as fabulous. Be the envy of all your friends because this dress is a must have for the Fall Season!
We all need at least one new hoodie a season. I mean in all honesty a hoodie is just a good go to casual look. This one however is one of my all time faves. It offers a chic, classic, fun look with your favorite lounge pants. This is a fashion that I see myself wearing for a casual walk on the beach or for a smores night with the fam. It's stylish enough to be worn out and about and make you look like a fashionista, but still posses that chill hoodie vibe that keep you cozy and warm.
What are some of you Absolute Favorites this season?
