Without fail the kids ask for the same thing every year.
It has become a Christmas staple in our house.
All 5 of my children want socks. It's funny because each on their own will ask. So every year I have the same conversation with each of my children. The same conversation in fact that I have been having with them for years. This year it went something like...
Mom, Can you fill my stocking with wool socks this year?
Mom, I need a pair of good warm socks this year. Maybe wool.
Mom, could you and dad get me a few pairs of wool socks?
Mom, wool socks seems pretty cozy. Do you think you could pick me out some for Christmas?
Mom, can I have a whole gift bag full of socks. Wool would be super great please.
The same conversation five different times. It's like Deja vu every year.
They either get lost, misplaced, or they just want a new one.
A scarf as a gift is always a grantee smile when they open it.
I accredited this to two things. A scarfs versatility and capability for easy warmth.
We are outdoor people. We love trips into the mountains or heading out to the beach for some wonderful adventures. We love exploring nature which means you can never have too many beanies. This is a gift I just give every year. They don't even need to ask because I know they need one. I also gift one every year because I want to encourage them to explore the world around them.
I love the predictability of Christmas shopping for the kids. It's truly something special to know that when they were as little as 5. I was buying them warm socks and well at the age of 26 they are still looking at me to purchase that cozy pair of socks. I don't think it is the socks that matter as much as it is knowing that mom is always there for them.
