I belong to a few different Facebook groups that are composed of a community of bloggers and entrepreneurs alike. They are truly great groups. There is always someone willing to help out if you having issues in creating your website, need ideas, have question on engagement, etc. I love these online communities and am very privileged to not only have found them, but to be able to benefit from the knowledge of others.
The post that I see time and time again from different people around the world is one composed of doubt. Many people feel that they are not doing the right thing for their families. Fear and worry weight on many because they are apprehensive of investing money and time into a business that may never take off. Some also find themselves confused or lost when they put so much of themselves into their business, but others are not as responsive as they would hope.
Doubt is the Killer Of Dreams
Doubt is the killer of dreams.
Doubt is also pretty hard to overcome. Especially if you happen to have a family that depends on the money you bring in for daily life expenses. That can build into a lot of pressure and be hard to handle.
You might find yourself at some point asking yourself.
How do I deal with Doubt?
How do you keep moving forward?
How do I know if it is right to stay?
Is this the right path for me?
While there is not a quick fix or simple answer when it comes to overcoming Doubt. Typically the solution resides within yourself. You have to be the one to fight off the feeling and find the drive to keep going.
There is no shame in feeling Doubt. Everyone at some point dose. It is not something that only the unlucky few feel or the luck few don't feel. Whether is happens within your fist few weeks of having a business or after the first two years. At some point in your career you will be visited by that dreadful Doubt feeling. I feel no shame in admitting that I have battled with Doubt.
When dealing with Doubt the best thing to do is to have a plan. Preferably before you start to feel Doubt and Worry, but you can build on the spot if need be. However I do advise you to have one in place before hand because Doubt is a Dream Killer. It can lead to feelings of inadequacy and ultimately leave you feeling unfulfilled at the end of the day because you didn't take a chance.
My Doubt Plan
Here a Summarized Version of my Doubt Plan. I cant promise it will help you, but it might so I am more than willing to share.
Who am I letting down if I take/give up this path?
What will I do if I'm not doing this?
When or Will will I regret the decision I make today?
Where will I be going once I leave this road?
What do I want my outcome to be?
While my summary of basic questions is not very specific. I think that when times of Doubt come it is a good place to start.
Here are some of the answers that I find myself giving to these questions. Although while vague I still feel could shed some light and insight for others and possibly help you when you find yourself battling Doubt .
I am my Hardest Critic.
In the end the only person that will be disappointed is me.
As long as I can keep ending up on a path where the people I love and myself are healthy and happy. Internally I will be very happy with life.
If I feel I will regret not doing something or not giving something my all. Then I know deep down that it is something I must pursue. As long as I am contentious of how much I am putting on the line. Then I can not regret taking the risk because I knew from the start the possible failure.
I will hopefully find myself on an equally if not more fulfilling path.
I always want my outcome to be a life where my family and I are happy, healthy, safe, and comfortable. As long as I achieve that then the outcome is what I desired.
