Days off are not only necessary for sanity but also all around one of the best things in the world. It might be crazy to say out loud, but many more times than I would like to admit. I find myself with a day off and with a completely blank mind as to what to do with my time. I am constantly working, if I am not working I am caring for my home or family. When the magical duty-free time of an actual day off peeks through the fog and mist. I am stumped as to what to do with myself. I know I can not be the only one out there. So here are some trusty relaxation activities that I like to do when I find myself with an empty schedule for the day.
1) Wake Up Slow And With Ease
Sleeping in is really hard for me to do. It is just something that my body refuses to do. Seeing as so must days off I still wake up around 6am. Since I am not needed anywhere no have any obligations. I like to take this time to wake up slow, sip my coffee, play on social media, and maybe watch a little Netflix. There is no rushing and no checking the clock for the time. It's just me and the morning.
2) Breathe In Some Fresh Clean Air
Another one of my trusty favorites is to calmly breathe in some fresh air. Depending on the season and the weather I find myself doing it in a few different ways. If the weather calls for it I absolutely love to walk along the water. If it's too windy, I love to sit on my porch staring out at the trees dancing while I sip a cup of coffee. If it's raining, I like to open a window or two so that the cold crisp air can make a swift appearance in my home. I find that fresh air and the outdoors help to calm and relax me. Making myself a productive powerhouse when I return to work.
Normally I am either too busy or too tired to pamper myself. So when a day off presents itself I love to use up my free time by painting my nails and treating my skin to a face mask.
I absolutely love baking. It was something I used to do all of the time, but as the children got older and my life got a little more hectic. It is an activity that I find I do not have time for. Which is why when a day off comes into view I love to start brainstorming on all of the yummy treats I can make.
5) Watch A Movie With My Youngest
I love my family and I love spending quality time with them. My youngest is a teenager so conversation is rare and avoided on his part. I honestly love that he is still willing to watch a movie with me on my days off. It is even a real treat because he will watch absolutely anything with me. Breakfast At Tiffany's, a black and white, superhero, you name it and hell most liking be willing to pop some popcorn and give it a try.
