Autumn as all of you probably know by now with my continuous reminders is my absolute favorite time of the year. Every years I make sure to write up a list of activities that I plan to do during the Fall season. I do not think I have ever really explained why I do it and why I choose to share it with you.
So I thought why not do so today.
Here are my reasons for why I write up and share my Fall List with you every year.
As well as my list for this Fall.
My schedule is pretty pack from day to day. There is always something that requires my attention and something that needs to be done. With this non stop trend of always being in demand I can easily get swept up in it all and lose so much time. I find lists personally extremely helpful. They help to organize my thoughts and efficiently delegate my time. Which is why I write lists upon lists for all sorts of things. As many of you know Fall is my favorite season of the year. There are so many activities that I would love to do during the Fall months. Although with my schedule being what it is. I can easily and without notice watch the season come and go because I am wrapped up in accomplishing tasks and projects. A while ago I was tired of losing a majority of the season. I also would want to do certain activities, but then forget about them until the Fall season was long gone. As a way to combat my hectic schedule, my chaotic brain, my love for Fall activities, and my forgetfulness. I started creating a Fall List. Which depicts all of the activities that I want to enjoy during the season.
My Fall List
1) Complete my first Hard Trail with my daughter.
2) Enjoy a warm cup of coffee outside with friends.
3) Visit a Pumpkin Patch/Corn Maze.
4) Watch a spooky movie with my two youngest sons.
5) Bake Fall themed treats for my lovely family.
6) Go on a Hay Ride.
7) Complete the secret ThavinMarcob projects I've been working on.
8) Take a neighborhood stroll with my pups so they too can enjoy the falling leaves.
9) Indulge in a brunch outside.
10) Observe the beautiful bird the PNW has to offer.
What are some activities that you would like to do this season.

The Fall wardrobe prep for me started happening earlier this month. I am so excited that Fall is finally here. Fall is the season for me. I love adventuring into the mountains, going on long walks on the beach, and of course cool night hangouts on the porch.
Fall is here and now it is time to showcase my revamped weather appropriate wardrobe.
I'm usually a scarf kind of girl. I like to change out the colors and textures. Making for an easy chic Fall Look. Although this year I found the most amazing piece of fashion ever. I would say if you only buy one piece of fashion this Fall. This is the one you are going to want in my opinion.
1. It will easily go into winter.
2. It has pockets so you can stash your gloves, wallet etc...
3. There is a hood! Yes a freaking hood!
Which is a perfect addition if you're in the northwest like I am.
3. It is thick like a poncho, but has way less material which is a huge plus for me and my short frame.
Transforming Back Pack - Satchel - Purse
What a convertible bag! No idea how I lived without this my whole life!
I mean I'm so spontaneous about hopping out of the car for adventures. It never occurred to me to look for such an amazing transforming bag that would be the perfect
companion for any and all adventures.
1. This baby is convertible need I say more...
2. This Bag is so beautiful in its stylish compartments. It is quite easy to go from the office to adventure in the matter of seconds.

Every Day Dress
This dress is basic, cute, and beautiful in color. It's versatile to the core. Pair great with heels, sneakers, leggings, or tights. You can dress it up with a leather jacket or dress it down with a jean jacket and still look just as fabulous. Be the envy of all your friends because this dress is a must have for the Fall Season!
We all need at least one new hoodie a season. I mean in all honesty a hoodie is just a good go to casual look. This one however is one of my all time faves. It offers a chic, classic, fun look with your favorite lounge pants. This is a fashion that I see myself wearing for a casual walk on the beach or for a smores night with the fam. It's stylish enough to be worn out and about and make you look like a fashionista, but still posses that chill hoodie vibe that keep you cozy and warm.
What are some of you Absolute Favorites this season?
Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year!
I love watching the leaves start to change colors a little bit each day. One thing that makes my heart leap for joy is seeing the leaves begin to repave the road ways with their beautiful colors. It makes my drive into work relaxing and quite enjoyable.
I can't help but to fall in love with the sweetness that fall coats the air with. It's like the smell of sweet pumpkins, cider, and apples pleasantly rush through the air filing my nostrils with pure happiness.
The colors, can you believe the colors, watch the sunset tonight or the sunrise if your a morning person. The crisp air that starts to change with the season wrapped all around you with those magical colors blooming in the sky. I mean really should we all be watching a few more of those moments instead of that new hit show on Netflix.
We all have that special season that one that reconnects us with the world around us, the one that breathes a little sigh of love into our soul. Autumn is the season for me, what's yours?
Just this past week I discovered something that made me make that Whaaatt face. You know the face that is accompanied by the shock of information that you either didn't know or were slightly misinformed about.
I love sharing my goofy, funny, embarrassing, straight out of left field stories. So I thought that it would be fun to share with you this story of how I learned about the world tradition in comparison to my family's tradition.
I love cookbooks. I think it is a great way to discover new delicious recipes. As well as a way for myself to expand my horizons in the cuisine world. I recently purchased this cookbook that I thought would be perfect for my teen boys. I thought the recipes would be simple enough for them to feel comfortable following and cooking along.
I make Mexican rice all of the time. It is a recipe that I grew up on and one that I learned how to make we I was a small child. While browsing through the potential dishes my boys could cook up. I stumbled upon a recipe for Mexican rice. Curiosity took over and I swiftly read over how to make it. To my surprise however the recipe called for chicken broth instead of water. My family has always prepared the rice with water never chicken broth. I thought this was a little funny because for my whole life I was under the impression that I was taught to make Traditional Mexican rice. The first thought that came to mind was that it was a Spaniard dish and not Mexican. I was honestly really baffled by this information and then insured a long conversation with my family about it. After many opinions we decided to google it to see if there were in fact a difference of chicken broth and water in the two rice dishes. Only to my surprise that both dishes are meant to be prepared with chicken broth. I just couldn't believe that this whole time I thought I was preparing traditional Mexican rice. I was just making a variant of Mexican rice. As silly as it sounds it's crazy to me. The traditional way is not my family's traditional way. I am definitely going to have to try and make it with chicken broth this next time around.
Here I was thinking I was buying a simple cookbook for my boys. When in the end I ended up learning something I probably would have never learned other wise.
What are some of your Whaaattt moments?
Please share with us. We would love to know.
Have a great day.
Much love and appreciation ThavinMarcob
In my opinion Fashion is a very personal.
I don't think to many people talk about how personal it actually is or even really care to acknowledge it. We find ourselves in a day in age where body shamming, mommy shaming, and numerous other forms of shaming make themselves overly apparent on the daily. I believe it is time that we start to open that door and talk about the personal in fashion.
Fashion is personal for many reasons. Here are what I consider to be my top two.
The first being Comfort.
The level and variety of comfort that you are most okay with is going to be different from the person sitting next to you. For instance, I do not necessary feel as comfortable in flats as I do heels. This mainly stems from the fact that I am short. It might be peculiar, but I do feel a little more self conscious in flats than I do heels. I still wear flats, however I find that I exude more confidence when I am in heels. This fact is personal to me as an individual and is what makes my fashion choices and tastes unique to me.
The second is Shape.
We all have a different body shapes. What may look good on me may not look good on you and vise versa. Our body shapes are not something to be ashamed of. They are who we are and should be celebrated, appreciated and loved. Taking the time to figure out what works for you is an important personal journey. You can read all the tips and tricks you want from any magazine article, but ultimately it's going to be about you and it's going to lead back to the first reason of Comfort. You may find that you love a style of clothing that most might say is not meant for your body shape or vise versa. Ignore others opinions because all that matters is you. For me it's more about color than shape. I feel very comfortable in black, dark blues, mainly fall colors. Typically if you put me in something pink I will not feel comfortable at all. Even if it is a cut that I love or the exact same fashion that I own already own in black.
It doesn't matter what is trendy today.
Just because it's trendy and everyone around you is wearing it.
Doesn't mean a thing if you are
1. not comfortable
2. doesn't accentuate your shape how you want it to.
Just be you and do you because you got this. Let your confidence roll out the tips of your fingers and add a spring to your step. You are a unique individual and
it's your body so make fashion work for you.
A few months ago we purchased my forever dream home. I'm really excited because for the first time in a long time I can finally decorate and have no restrictions on my imagination because I own the place. I recently redecorated my bedroom as those of you who follow us on Instagram might already know. Today I thought I would share a few of my favorite decorating hacks that I used to create the perfect cozy master bedroom.
While we were in the market of looking for a new home I started collecting décor elements that I wanted to have in my room. My room doesn't really have a theme per say it has more of a I liked it so I got it.
Where We Started
We started with paint. Paint is always the cheapest upgrade you can give your room. It takes a bit of time and prep work, but it instantly gives you a new look and can be completed in a weekend.
I wanted my room to feel open and fresh therefore I chose a designer white. If I'm honest I would love my whole house to be designer white. I just love the crisp clean feel of it. Even though my paint came with a primer I still decided to prime before putting that first coat of paint on it. Since I have a fantastic group of men in my life they were able to help me get this done really quick! It took us about 45 minutes to prime, then we waited a day to place the first coat of paint. We then waited one more day to place on the last coat.
While the walls were drying, we were able to get a few other projects done.
I really wanted a few wall shelves in my room right between the two windows across from my bed. So it was a quick trip to the hardware store to pick up a few pieces of wood and some shelving brackets. These shelves were a little under $10.00 each and are pretty basic.
We sanded down the wood to make sure it was smooth, stained it in the morning, allowed it to dry, then lightly sanded before putting on a second coat of stain. I loved the color after the second coat. So we went ahead and sanded very lightly then placed a clear coat on top of it.
For Christmas last year my special guy gave me this absolutely beautiful hand painted mud cloth. It was my favorite gift last year. It was a wonderful surprise and I hadn't really decided what I wanted to do with it. Although when we finished painting it hit me. I knew exactly where I wanted to place it! Right above of bed. I love the look, but most importantly I love the fact that it was a gift from my special guy!
I found these cheap frames at one of the local department stores and filled the up with some of my favorite photos from moments that I not only cherish, but also bring a smile to face as well a little warmth in my heart!
I loved the idea of having a built in make up counter, but in reality I hated how it looked. I decided to only add two shelves onto the wall when I really anticipated putting up more. So I had a few pieces of wood left over and guess what it will work to build myself a counter that I love!
The counter took quite a few days to get together because I had to get back to work and it was a little more complicated then I had originally realized.
First day we glued the two pieces together
Second day we filled it with wood filler
Third day we sanded and refilled with wood filler
Fourth day we were able to start staining
Fifth day second coat of stain went one,
my special guy does not normally do the staining and was in aww when I told him that you should always do a light sanding in between coats.
Sixth day clear coat was added.
We then allowed the counter to set outside for a few days before placing in in the room.
We were lucky enough not to have a new frame for the counter the old one worked fantastic!
Wood Framed Mirror
Eventually I would like to change this mirror out for a circular one, but I want to wait till I find the perfect one. In the mean time I decided to go ahead and purchase one of those inexpensive door mirrors for 5.00 and created a wood frame for it. This was put together in a few days, I didn't actually make it I just told my special guy how to do it and he seemed to get it done fairly quickly.
It's Not Done Yet
Even with all of these changes I'm not done decorating yet. I can't seem to find the perfect curtains. I am also still on the hunt for a cute light fixture for above my makeup counter.
My room is feeling so much more like us.
I'm loving our adventures and working together to create a home
What are some house projects you have just embarked on?
Share using #ThavinMarcob we would love to hear about your exciting projects.
Around the age of 10 all of my children started to grow this fear of looking dorky. They would purposely not do things because they feared for their image. It was funny and a little sad that they felt they were too big for baby activities. As the kids grew this fear stuck with them. I understand not wanting to look silly for fear of judgment, but I don't think that it is any way to run ones life.
MaKayla and I have been working side by side now for over two years. In the beginning she was afraid of looking silly. Although to much happiness to my soul not caring if others think you're a little dorky has rubbed off on her and now she just doesn't care.
We do tons of things that make us look completely silly.
Here are our Top Five.
1) Randomly break out in dance
Sometimes we need a little energy booster, a brain break, or we are just feeling the music. So we will break out into dance. That is on it's own a silly sight, but if you haven't made it out to our Oak Harbor Shop then you don't know that we have two very large windows. Which means in those moments when our bodies start to grove to the beat. Even though no one may be in the shop. There are still tons of spectators just beyond the glass. I have been looked at like I was a complete dork for dancing in an empty building alone, but I don't care. It gives both the person watching and I a laugh. Plus I get a nice little energy boost that will help me happily continue on with my work.
2) Falls and Flying Objects
A secret of mine is that I am pretty clumsy. I've fallen, stumbled, and tripped. Sometimes over various objects, but also from my own two feet. I have also accidentally flung objects across the store and at my face. This one admittedly is a little embarrassing when someone spies my clumsiness coming into light, but I still don't care if I look a little silly. It happens to everyone.
3) Out Loud Thinking
Sometimes it is just easier after hours of work to start to think out loud. It is so much easier to think out loud and see if the physical version of what you wanted is the direct translation of what your brain was imagining. We look silly, but our brains thank us.
4) Intense Starring
This is one that umbrellas a lot of different situations. Sometimes one of us will just zone out and intensely stare at nothing. One always looks a little silly when someone catches you then asks what you were looking at. Only to reply with a, " ummm nothing". and actually mean it. MaKayla and I can also be caught starring at our windows displays intensely when we first put them up. You can catch us on either side of the glass with a tilted head debating on how things should be placed for optimization.
5) Walking In and Out Repeatedly
We want our Oak Harbor location to be as customer friendly and comfortable as possible. We have also gone through a few upgrades since opening in June. Which means we have rearranged out shop quite a few times. Every time we do both MaKayla and I will walk out and back into the shop to get the overall feel of the changes. It's a process for us from which we will look completely silly for over an hour walking in and out of our own store just to asset the changes.
We totally get watched and starred at, but we just don't care if we look silly. It's a great feeling to know that my fearlessness of breaking out in dance when you just need a little break has rubbed off on my daughter. No one wants to feel or be judged by another. Especially when they might formulate a negative or hurtful opinion about you. However I also think that it is important to remember not to let others have power over your actions. We might look silly or crazy to others when they see us walking in and out of our own shop for an hour, but we don't care. It's how we think best and it's for our customers benefit.
