Welcome To Every Day Life
It might not occur to us in the moment or the season, but we all have various different traditions. I know that when someone says the word tradition our brains automatically think of formal occasions typically centered around grand events or holidays. However a tradition does not have to be so stiff in thought. Take a moment to think about the small everyday traditions that you and your family have. Think not about the game nights you have during the holidays or the annual relay race you have at your family reunion. Instead I invite you to pull from your every day life.
What is something that you do as a family that you
have found years later is still that special something?
I Asked and My Family Answered
I know that my family and I have traditions that are ours and ours alone. However when it came time to think of a family tradition in the every day sense I was drawing a huge blank. So I set off on a mission to have a conversation with each of my children and my beloved husband about what they considered to be our family traditions and why. I was honestly overwhelmed with their feedback. I know I am not the only one who can get so wrapped up in their day to day tasks that somehow those special little life moments seem to escape you when you are so desperate for them. Thankfully my wonderful family came through and flooded my brain with a huge refresher course on our simple every day life traditions. In truth there are some traditions that I didn't even think we traditions until it was pointed out to me. For instance whenever we go out on hikes. We always without fail get ice cream afterwards. My husband and I have been taking our kids to get ice cream after a day of playing in the mountains since they were little. Even though all of my children are grown, we still without fail all go get ice cream. This is an every day life tradition for my family and I. It doesn't matter the time of year, the trail, the distance, or the weather. If we hike then we'll all enjoy some kind of delicious frozen treat together. Another tradition my family and I have is visiting our local famers markets. This was one of the every day life traditions that everyone spoke about. We all have fond memories of exploring the markets together. Such fond memories in fact that we are always eager to go when they start to make their appearance locally.
Local Saturday Markets and My Family
Saturday Markets have always been a part of my children's lives. We loved to take the kids when they were younger because we thought that it was something easy and fun for them to go out and do. I also loved the aspect that they were able to personally connect with local craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and famers. Such joy could be brought into my husbands and I's hearts watching my children's eyes light up as the saw street performers in between tents filled with locally farmed honey and hand painted wooden toys. It was unintentional at the time, but visiting Famers Markets together as a family as turned into a happy tradition in my house.

All they have to provide you with is continuous joy, laughter, and memories, that will leave a marvelous imprint on yours and your loved ones brain.
