Raise your hand if your childhood did not prepare you for folding fitted sheets!
My hand is raised, in fact I'm jumping up and down yelling me, me, me!!
I roll that shit up into a ball and then shape it to look like a square.
Oh I know it's crazy, and a bit silly, but I'm still going to do it again and again. Which is one of the many reason why my linen closet looks the way it does. It's a complete and utter mess. It is nearly impossible to tell what is what. In fact t if I want new clean sheets for my bed. I usually have to unroll several before I find what I'm looking for. While yes it is very time consuming, I still ignore the bigger problem. Which is my linen closet is a complete disaster and over due for a complete make over.
Not anymore, I'm tackling this closet, I'm going to make it not
only presentable, but functional and optimal for its space size.
How you may ask....
I'm going to hide my balls of folding shame into very large baskets!
This sway focus is pulled for my lack of folding skills
and placed on which sheet is which.
After a bit of thought I have come to the conclusion that canvas baskets will work best for my family and I. I find them to be quite roomy meaning we can stuff more sheets into them. I also personally love that they are washable. Being a parent of not only five children, but two dogs and one cat. Animal fur is no stranger in our home. Having the option to just throw the baskets into the wash when they are getting a little funky. In my opinion is a huge plus and will ultimately help keep my linen closet organized and functional for the longest stretch of time.
To take things a step further in the organization process I went ahead and separated the sheets by bed size as well as grouping all of the pillow cases together in one backset.
Not only will it be easy to find sheets for your bed based off of your bed size. It should also be relatively hassle free to find a change of pillow cases. I beleive this is a system of organization that will be able to stay in my home for a while because it focuses on function and opimization them most rather than looks and detailed systems of seperation.
This was my one space to organize this month. If you missed out, I am on a journey this year to introduce organization into my home one space at a time.
A Year Of Organizing - The Pantry
A Year Of Organizing - The Back Entryway
This is the third space that I have tackled this year and
I think I have made some seriously progressive process.
