I create goals all the time. Sometimes I'm lucky, sometimes thing fit and flow perfectly allowing me to knock those goals right out of the park. Although there are those times when I'm working hard at it, trying my dammest to get there and just can't quite reach the goal I have set for myself. It's not that the goal I've set is unreasonable, its mainly that sometimes as I try to get there, I stumble, fall, or somehow end up completely off course. I'm sure most of us have experienced this phenomenon at some point in our lives. And it's not just in business, it happens in our personal lives too, which is why I have a step by step system I use when I just can't seem to get to where I need to be.
When we create goals for ourselves, we tend to think BIG! Which is always the best way to dream, yet when it comes to turning those dreams into a reality, we need to work with reality, and the truth is that more times then not there are thousands upon thousands of steps we need to take to accomplish that one big goal. Therefore this is where I always start when things are not clicking, and that is to simply SIMPLIFY.
Simplifying the goal allows me to break up the goal into small, more manageable goals. This will, in turn, will enable me to step forward towards the bigger goal. However, still allow me to feel like I'm actually accomplishing something towards that goal. It's a way for me to meet success every day, instead of waiting years to feel the achievement of the bigger goal.
Reestablishing priorities is always a key factor when I'm realigning my goals with the day to day. Creating goals is essentially the easy part of the process. Deciding on where to start and how to start can leave one feeling a little overwhelmed with the whole process. That is why this step is important, and should not be skipped when trying to work out your clear path towards one's goals.
In essence, you have a huge goal that you haven't been able to meet; therefore, you start at step one and break it down into smaller, more manageable goals. Once you have a list of more manageable goals in hand, it's really quite easy to determine which ones need to take tacked first. Once you have worked out how each small goal can build onto the next goal, your path will become more apparent. Clearing your way, the more you prioritize your goals, the easier it is to get to that one big goal at the end.
Once you have created a smaller easier list of manageable goals to meet its time to hold yourself accountable for completing them, give yourself a timeline to achieve each goal. If one of them takes a little longer to accomplish, forgive yourself, and allow for more time. The important thing is not to give up, to keep moving forward, and to get them crossed off your list.
You have worked hard, and you're still working hard. I know its not the big one, the big goal is still out there waiting for you to reach it. It's important to take a moment, to sit back and celebrate the small victories that come your way throughout this process. There are no big or small wins; there are just wins. So yes, celebrate the Fuck out of those moments. You have worked hard; you are working hard. So go ahead, celebrate the wins and know we are right there celebrating with you!
Remember, you are already successful! You're looking to enrich your life in other authentic ways. Keep in mind, because it's important that you just being you is a success on its own already. You have successful relationships; you have success when you love and respect yourself, you have success when you're winding down your night, and you realize that your day was amazing. Success is what we decided it to be, not what others tell us it is and as I have just started YOU ARE ALREADY SUCCESSFUL!
