Everyone knows that in order for you to grow and learn you must first fail. While failures can be very undesirable and sometimes down right embarrassing. It's important to remember that they make you stronger and that you are not alone.
We have encounter all sorts of fails. When we fail the first thing that typically happens is damage control. At times things tend to have a ripple effect. First we must regroup and see now with a failure how other projects are affected. Once damage control is assessed we then move into the solution phase of, "How can this be solved or fixed"? We are not perfect, MaKayla and I are only human. So I'll admit we will throw a little pity party. We both think that it is important to address our feelings when they show up because we believe that not recognizing them can potentially do more harm than good. We throw a little pity party then we proceed forward.
Here are some Fails that we encountered this August.
One failure that we encountered this past month was one that we really learned a hard lesson from. It was truthfully just a huge let down. We were invited to be apart of something really fun and new. Both MaKayla and I were so excited to be apart of such a thing that we put in hours of extra work and quite a bit of money to make this event something special for the attendees. However unfortunately the day before the event was supposed to take place we were surprised with the news that the event had changed. Unfortunately making our participation impossible. The whole thing just sucked because we pushed schedules ahead of time since we knew this event was happening. We also created really awesome swag bags for the event. Which cost us more money than anticipated, more stress, and more of a work load. Most of the prep for this happened in July and as many of you know July was it's own wonderfully crazy show. Life matters, plus normal work matters, plus extra work, effort, and stress left us feeling defeated and foolish when all was said and done.
ThavinMarcob loves to support. We love to support Women, Small Businesses, People just starting, and so many more. However one lesson that we have sadly learned from many experiences is that people will take advantage. Neither of us want to be skeptical of people or businesses, but after you get burned time and time again for just wanting to be a good person and company to others. You can't help, but to become a little more jagged and now walk with a little more caution. It sucks to say, but ThavinMarcob has been taken advantage of, lied to, mislead, and purposely sabotaged by other businesses and their owners. It's crazy because there is not a Team Member at ThavinMarcob that would practice business like some of the people we have encountered do. While we always hold determination to stay to true to our vision to support and see the best in people. We do now walk with caution and are weary when interacting with others because a majority of our encounters have been about us helping out others with them not showing love back or with them blatantly using us for our media outreach and business knowledge. Last month in August we were sadly burned again.
When new things come along it always comes with a little added sparkle because it's new and exciting. However funny enough when an event first starts to come into view of our calendars both MaKayla and I are pumped, however always making sure to keep reality in check. After some time passes people will come up to us and to put politely, " Hype the F out of said event". ThavinMarcob has now been through quite a few different third party events and it sucks to say, but all have been incredibly overhyped. We have now learned that when talking to someone about an event that you need to take what they say with a grain of salt. We have found that 94% of what we are told is exaggerated. We are not sure why, but it is. MaKayla and I always want to think the best and we are only human so after the 10th person comes and hypes it up. We can't help, but to let a little bit of that excitement creep in. Unfortunately though the event comes and goes leaving us very underwhelmed and like we were lead on. I believe after this past month we have officially learned our lesson and will honestly not listen to any of the over hype that comes our way.
Fails Suck! While sometimes we can obsess on the failures it's important to Remember the Wins. We experience tons of Wins and while sometimes we forget to Recognize and Celebrate we do still try our best to not get caught up in the black hole mind frame that is a Complete Fail.
Here are some of our August Wins!
We have had so many people return to our Oak Harbor location. It is honestly so flattering and absolutely exciting when someone who has shopped in our store comes back and wants to do it again. We really do put in so much effort to make your shopping experience enjoyable. Which is why it means the world to us when someone will willingly come back. That is a Absolute Win in our book.
Our shopping experience of Utilizing your Consumer Buying Power has been one that was years in the making. An overwhelming amount of work, stress, inspiration, determination, and brain power has gone into our New System. The system has been in place for a month now and we are exceptionally overjoyed to have experienced positive feedback. When we explain the Five different Boutique Collections to people everyone is always very interested and shows a positive response. We want people to feel more in control with how they chose to Utilize their Consumer Power. If you want to support a small business then go for it. We have products for you to chose from in a reasonable price range. Everyone here is filled with happiness when someone comments on how they like our Collections and every time it happens it is always a Huge Win.
Another Absolute Win that we experienced this past August was being told by so many wonderful people how much they love our Five Collections, our price points, and our atmosphere. Our system was a real shot in the dark so we are so happy people understand and are responsive to it. ThavinMarcob strives to provide reasonably priced fashions. So when we hear people comment about how we really are reasonably priced we can't help, but smile. The atmosphere of ThavinMarcob is one that is always under construction because we know what we want it to be, but are sometimes stumped on how to achieve it. It's our store front so naturally we have a different view than a customer does. This makes the atmosphere hard to create. At times it can be frustrating when we don't know if we are doing it right or not. So when we hear from a wide variety of people that our store is "Cool" the smiles are eye twinkles are uncontainable.
I know that the top portion of this blog does sound extremely whiny and like we are complaining. By all means we are not nor do we take one instant and have it shape how we think about others forever. We've been in business since 2016 with now two very different locations under our belt. ThavinMarcob has experienced and encountered a wide variety of people and businesses. While each troublesome situation is different. They all are hilariously the same time and time again. We hold optimism and want to be the good in business. Which is probably why we fall for things time and time again resulting in fails like the ones we encountered in August.
We fail like anyone else. We also experience some Great Wins. Those wins are the light at the end of the tunnel that keep us going even when it feels like the whole world is against us.
Thank you so much for your continued support and love. Everyone at ThavinMarcob is incredibly appreciative. We hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday.
