Tip #1 - Don't Lose the Important Stuff
Our first tip that we recommend to you when moving your business is actually one that we did not necessarily follow during our move to Oak Harbor. In the midst of the moving process we unfortunately realized our mistake. Which is why we are placing this tip at the very top.
Gather all of your important papers and place them in a clearly labeled box that will be easy to find later on.
We had our important papers in a few different boxes that we sadly all in separate locations. Finding them all and collecting them so that they could now be in one box in one location. Was actually a more strenuous task than I would have ever thought.
Tip #2 - Be Covered
The second must do Business moving tip that we recommend is one that we think is incredibly important.
Make sure your insurance is in place before you even step foot into your new location.
It is always better to be safe than sorry. You never know what can happen. So we do recommend that insurance is a top priority.
Tip #3 - Keep It Organized
Tip number three is kind of a no brainer, but funny enough can sometimes be forgotten. That why we placed it in the third slot of Our Business Moving Tips.
When it comes time to pack up your inventory. Keep things separate and in an organized fashion. It helps when it comes to unpacking.
Tip #4 - Design Comes First
If you plan to change the design of your store such as furniture, fixtures, ect… do so before inventory is put onto the floor.
By going this route you give yourself more room to work in. Which if you don't think is important, trust me when I say that it is. There is nothing more frustrating that feeling like you can not move because you are blocked. You also save yourself the possibility of damaging your inventory.
Save yourself the loss and just keep everything in boxes until you are ready to safely put it out onto the floor.
Tip #5 - Settle
Our final Business Moving Tip that we have to share with you. Is to try and give yourself as much time as possible to settle into your new location.
Whether you have been in business for a while or this is your first step. We still recommend that you give yourself a day or two to completely settle into your new location.
Feeling comfortable with the new layout of your store can really help with efficiency and productivity.
