The Holiday season is here and in full swing!
You can bet that I am first in line to joyously welcome this
very special and magical time of year and here's why.
Family Time is always a must for us during the holiday season. Life is busy, there is always something new to do, or to see. During the holiday season in my house everyone seems to want to snuggle in and spend time with each other. It's not a forced activity, it's not forced family time, it's just time as a family. I have never understood why the kids were more apt to spend time together during this the holiday season rather than any other time of year, but that's just how it is in our home. So I try to go with it, to soak it in, to enjoy every freaking second I can because truth be told it's happening a lot less now that everyone is growing up and moving into their own lives away from home.
I adore all of the Christmas decorations that coat themselves along walls, doors, railings, fences, roofs, windows, cars, desks, ceilings, and sweaters. I could walk around forever admiring all of the wonder, sparkle, and glimmer that is holiday décor. Something about a gleaming strand of lights or an evergreen wreath with a cherry red bow on it sparks an immense sense of joy within my heart that encompasses my whole body in pure and simple happiness.
As we grow we rediscover our self over and over again. We are never the same person twice over. I am no different and either are my children. Year after year we gather around the Christmas tree and open the gifts we picked out for one another. Year after year we change as people, we rediscover who we are. Although no matter how many self discoveries anyone in my house goes through I find it immensely comforting to know that we all know each other to the core. I know that even though my youngest is interested in different things this year than he was last. I still know him to the core and can always pick out a gift with spark and instance smile and a laugh. Each year I am rereminded of how well we know each other and each year it ignites the same tender loving feeling in my heart that I crave year round.
Christmas can be stressful!
There is all this pressure to purchase gifts you don't need nor do you want. The pressure to spend money you don't have, to be more than what you are. It can leave a person feeling inadequate, lost, maybe even unsuccessful! This is never true! Look for that one gift, the one you know they will love, the one you want to give. Try not to give a gift to give a gift. Spend the time a search for one with meaning. Spend more time with those you love creating loving and happy memories. Products break and fade with time, loving and happy memories last a lifetime.
