Both the runway and the sidewalk were brimming with chic, yet daring combos of oversized sweaters, contrasting shades, and luxe footwear mixed in with casual wear to give your wardrobe a new edge. Designers and street stars alike have shown off some of their most mesmerizing styles that will resonate with us for months to come, and that will greet the spring in full swing of fashion spirit.
t’s practically impossible to name them all, but there are a few trends that stood out in the past few days. They continue the bold direction of the past season’s street style rise, and with their dazzling ingenuity, they are the epitome of fresh fashion for the playful and the free-spirited.
Pink is the new black
And not just Millennial pink, but all of its perky, bubbly, strawberry shades you can possibly imagine! From going all out like Roksanda’s fuchsia dress to the softer tones of Erdem, this is a palette that will be found in the streets worldwide in every clothing item available.
One of the more unusual, and all the more alluring combinations have been the shades of orange mixed with baby pink, both of which can give your outfit a dreamy, yet classy look. Mismatched earrings, pastel or no makeup at all to flaunt a natural look, and you’ll be a fashionable Luna Lovegood for the duration of the warm season.
This year’s love for Kendal’s and the Hadid sisters’ look of carefree casual will extend well into the first quarter of 2018, starting with a genuine adoration of the puffer jacket, still a favorite for colder spring evenings. Yes, it can be worn in all its glam glory of silver and glitzy gold, but they can come in other shades as well, such as khaki and classy brown to go superbly well with pale olive greens.
The fickle weather is no match for this fashionable beast, and its multifaceted functionality allows you to wear it for a lazy morning brainstorming session with your clients in the local café, or head to a gala immersed in the toasty safety of your puffer, without depriving your look of any sophistication whatsoever!
Layers all over
Skimpy, generous, colorful or monochromatic, layers will rule the spring of 2018, and not for the sole purpose of preparedness, but to break as many rules as possible and wear your authenticity with pride. As such, denim paired with a light floral dress and covered with a vinyl coat is not over-the-top at all, but a very desirable way to play with shapes and textures.
From mixing oversized knitted sweaters with interesting prints to go with casual tees, flowy skirts and ankle boots, all the way to wearing summer in spring, the sky’s the limit when it comes to experimenting. Think using a one-piece swimsuit as an undershirt, paired with a high-waisted ripped denim shorts or cropped jeans, and combined with a puffer just in case. Talk about rebellious!
Blues and browns
Just like your pink hues will go with anything and everything, there are certain London-approved combos that scream style, one of which is the brown and blue mix with a subtle reminiscent of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz – this time with a variation on the ruby slippers.
Try with a midi blue dress paired with tan accessories and leather footwear, and you cannot go wrong. This effortless, but brilliant look can have a number of alternative forms, and you can apply the same blue-brown principle on any of your favorite ensembles.
White shoes with anything
There once was a rule that no true fashionista’s wardrobe can go without at least a single pair of solid black shoes for any occasion. Be they stilettos, ballet flats, sandals or ankle boots, black has often been boasted as the most powerful footwear color. That is, until its light twin sister took its throne!
Spring will be all about white feet, whether they are plain white sneakers, or classy Dries Van Noten Bootsto elevate your street look in no time, white should be your go-to shade for shoes.
