When the playdates and meetings of a busy life take over, it is easy to forget how to take a moment for yourself and relax. We have all been there either too distracted by life or too determined by work. At some point, each of us tosses the necessity that is relaxation to the waste side.
I am notorious for forgetting to turn off work mode when I get home. I'll step out of mu shoes munch on some dinner then proceed to stuff my face back into my computer screen. MaKayla has a hard time wanting to stop working once she is on a roll. MaKayla believes she not only produces her best work when she is on a nonstop creative rollercoaster but also is the most productive, which is why she prefers for her inspiration to naturally fizzle out rather than to stop it abruptly to eat.
We both have our workaholic ways about us, which is why we have such a deep appreciation for simple relaxation methods. Don't get it stuck in your head that the only way to relax is to take out five hours from your day to lounge around soaking in a tub and snacking on some popcorn while you watch tv. Relaxation comes in all warmly inviting shapes, no you do not have to dedicate hours to it, and no you do not have to be flush with cash to enjoy and to get all of the perks out of relation. Relaxing after a crazy day can be as easy as sipping wine with your loved one on the couch talking about absolutely nothing. Relaxation merely is you taking time for you, feeling no stress, no frustration, and no anxiousness. It's you calmly enjoying the moment.
Grab some candles, a bottle of your favorite wine and run a hot steaming bath just for you! Level up and add your favorite essential oil scent to the bathwater. You will feel like you just flew off to an intimate spa, but still retain the perks of being at home.
The stresses of the everyday responsibilities are high, why not take some time to burn off all that stress with a good workout. Level up and plan a workout in the morning and finish the day with an evening walk around the neighborhood.
Create A Zen Bedroom
Sleep is essential to your health. Building a Zen feeling in your room has lasting benefits for you and whoever crashes with you. Zen bedrooms are easy to create start decluttering the shit out of that space and add a few blooms.
Sometimes our body needs a checkout moment. A moment to say, it's overworked, it's overstressed, it needs a break. Try to fit in a 15-minute catnap.
Pack A Lunch
If you're packing a lunch for the day, where you decided to open it up and eat it becomes unlimited. You can eat it in the park, at the beach, maybe by the lack, or perhaps there is a favorite spot waiting for you to discover right outside your door.
Outing To The Local Museum
The majority of museums have a discount day or a free day on the books. Call your local museum and ask, utilize the free days, and plan a trip to explore the exhibits that are quite literally waiting for you to explore!
Treat Yourself To Your Favorite Dessert
My Favorite dessert is full of vast amounts of sugar and calories, so I try not to eat it very often. There are those just for no reason days when I need a pick me up that I will, of course, treat myself. So yes, you should allow yourself to indulge in your favorite dessert for no reason other than you deserve it and you're relaxing.
I genuinely enjoy the hour spent sitting and waiting. In all honesty, I chose a manicure mainly because if my nails are wet, I'm forced to unplug from social media.
Old fashion ice cream shops remind me of my childhood. Of summer days playing in the sun, the life before adulting. It's my special place, and it's only a few bucks for an ice cream treat that takes me down memory lane and reminds me to enjoy my moments.
Just being me, taking the time to just breath, to take in all that's around me, is hard for me to do. I have tried mediation, and I use to be good at it, yet lately with life being what it is that's not working for me anymore so I have had to change things up and I'm allowing myself to just sit at the beach with some tunes playing in my headphones watching the waves move in and out of the shore and working on just taking deep breaths!
