The first peaks of light that enter my eyes in the morning are always accompanied by a groggy muffled sound, which is a call out to me beloved coffee pot ordering it to start brewing. A typical morning for me includes on the water used to brew my coffee, very few stretches, and absolutely no workout.
Autumn is a time of change, so why not change my morning routine just a little.
The worse possibly thing that can happen is I learn it's not for me and I go back to what my routine was before.
Wake Up To Water First
Instead of sipping on coffee first thing in the morning. I have made the switch over to 16oz of water. While it is not cozy and warm, it is cool and refreshing.
Stretch Out The Sleep
While I am drinking down my 16ozs of cold water. I like to multitask and stretch for a few minutes. I stretch for 10 minuets minimum, but if it feels right and I have the time to spare. I'll happily stretch for a good 30 minuets.
Warming Up For The Day
My morning workout is not by any means anything crazy or complex. It is simply and easy to execute at home workout. I enjoy it because it helps energizingly wake myself up without tiering my out so much so that I want to crawl back into bed.
20 seconds of High Knees with a 10 second break
(Repeat 3-6 times)
20 Squats squeezing for 2 seconds at the top
(Repeat 5 times)
10 Push Ups
(Repeat 5 times)
45 Second Planks
(Repeat 5-10 Times)
While some mornings I have more energy and can accomplish much more. Changing out and/or including different set, reps, or exercises. For the most part this is what a morning workout for myself looks like.

For my birthday we traveled to Arlington WA to experience the unforgettable memory filled morning at the Outback Kangaroo Farm.
There were so many amazingly beautiful animals to see. As we approached a delightful picnic seating area we were greeted by a variety of graceful birds.
We then were guided by our lovely guide to see a Tortious,
a quant little Duck, and more marvelous Birds.
And finally the moment had arrived,
it was now time to see the Kangaroos!
It was an unbelievably incredible experience that I will never forget. They were exceptionally soft, gorgeously gentle, and marvelous creatures to stand next to.
Once we got all of our pets in, our informative guide then guided us to visit
Wallabies and Wallaroos.
Immaculate is all that I have to say!
Our guide then directed us to visit Donkeys, Goats, and more lovely Birds.
After saying hello to a handsome Miniature Horse, we then rounded
a corner to greet two exquisite Emus!
Our last stop on our amazing tour was to visit a Lama and Alpacas!
To celebrate such an unbelievable experience we then headed to the farms souvenir shop.
Our guided tour through The Outback Kangaroo Farm was the absolute perfect way to spend a birthday! I had so much fun making memories with my family and meeting so many impeccable animals. Truly a great day that I will remember forever.

Pull Back The Curtain.
I love the Wizard Of Oz so much so that I owned and proudly wore those flash ruby red Dorthey slippers for years. When thinking about the deeper meaning, we wanted to represent in our windows this month the scene of Dorthey pulling back the curtain to reveal the wizard flashed through my mind. As a child, I never assigned a deeper meaning to this scene or the scenes overall idea, but now as an adult, I can appreciate the hidden opportunity. I’m sure we can all relate to moments where you just wanted to Pull Back The Curtain and show someone what is really going on. We have those moments all of the time, both in our personal lives and professional ones.
Schedules on Schedules on Schedules
I am lots of things to lots of people. I feel like this fact is best represented through a glance at my calendar. I am a business owner, so of course, on my list of tasks, you will come across several Thavin & Marcob obligations. I am a mother of five, which means five humans need my undivided attention once or twice during a week. I am also a wife, meaning even if it is a simple phone call; my husband cannot go forgotten. I am a friend, so lunch dates and chats over wine are never out of the question. I am also my own person, who needs time for herself to relax and recollect. Sometimes when things are crazy or jumbled, and my schedule fills up before I even have a chance to breathe. I am left with the frustrating brewing feeling of wanting to Pull Back The Curtain. I want to remind someone even if it is just for the sake of a listening ear that a girl can be driven to madness from an overworked schedule. It might sound selfish, but when things are particularly crazy and what someone might need from me is not essential I would love a little understanding on a reschedule so that I can have a bit much needed me time.
Leave It At The Door
This is a saying I have heard here and there throughout the years. The context that I've heard it phrased in is emotionally do a happy reset when walking into a new atmosphere. For us, this is easy to achieve in theory. If you think about it, you control your mood, so just control your happiness and have it come bursting to the light when you walk into a new room. More times than not whatever I felt before I walked through the doorway is most likely what I am going to feel when I walk past the doors wood framing. Sometimes I can hide it if its something small like my annoyance for traffic or sadness for a spilled cup of fresh coffee. However, we all know that life can fucking suck, shit happens, and sometimes it feels like its pouring down on you from the damn sky. In cases like these no, I cannot leave it at the fucking door. Okay yeah if I really tried maybe I could put on a happy face which is what I try to do when a cheerful face is necessary, but even then through small conversation you'll be able to pick up on my horrible mood a mile away. When interacting with someone briefly who you are more of an acquaintance to being in that moment seemingly unprovoked by them. Your attitude more time than not will just make you look like a jerk possibly putting them now too in a sour mood. When I am mistakenly giving attitude to someone who I know does not deserve it. It is at that moment that I wish I could Pull Back The Curtain and say, "It's not you, it's me. I'm sorry, but openly expressing my feelings is the best way I handle all the shit that life throws my way".
There is always more to us than what meets the eye.
Sometimes it's a secret hidden talent, could be a current life struggle, other times it a dirty little secret, it might be internet façade. Regardless of what your hiding being your curtain, we do all reach a point where we want just to Pull Back The Curtain and let the world into our wonderfully chaotic mess of a life.
I place hiking in my top ten all-time favorite activities to do. I find the action to be therapeutic, peaceful, calming, and downright beautiful. Autumn, to me, is the perfect season to get outside and explore. It’s the ideal temperature, it’s gorgeous, and the trails are less frequently traveled. Now that we are happily a few days into fall, it’s about time to pack up my pack with my hiking essentials.
My hands get quite cold under the cool shade of the pine trees. I don’t always hike with them on, and I don’t always wear them through the entire duration of a hike, but I do like to have gloves on hand so that if they do start to feel like icicles, I can easily slip them out of my pack and onto my hands. Keeping them cozy and warm while I take in the fantastic scenery around me.
No one loves the feeling of dehydrated cracked lips. This feeling drives me insane when I am trying to be one with nature on a hike. For this, I always make sure to toss in a silky smooth hydrating SPF lip balm.
You can never go wrong with zipping one of these into your hiking pack while I have rarely ever used on a hiking excursion. I do still carry on with me for that just in case moment that might pop up out of nowhere.
First Aid Kit
There have been quite a few times where my first aid kit has come in handy when on hiking expeditions. Not so much for the band-aids or ice packs, but rather for headache relievers. When a terrible headache emerges out of nowhere, I am so grateful that a measly headache does not foil my hiking plans.
While I will admit that I am not always perfect at applying it every time I step outside for a grand adventure. I do make sure that I at least include it in my pack on the off chance that I remember to smear a bit on before heading out.
When the thought of stepping outside and walking along with the trees glimpses into appearance. I want nothing to stop me from getting out there for as long as possible. Therefore I do always make sure that within my hiking backpack, I include a snack of some sorts.
Depending on where I am going and how long I plan to be out my pack varies, but for the most part, you can always count on me to have gloves, Chapstick, a flashlight, a first aid kit, sunblock, and a snack with me on the trails.
Share your mountains essentials
To my eyes, there is not a more mesmerizing image than one of once green leaves transforming into vibrant colors of red, yellow, and orange, as they transcend from the tallest trees to the morning, drew droplets of unsuspecting blades of grass.
To my nose, there is not a more sweeter smell that fills my lungs than the one of an autumn wind coated in delicate notes of nature, fresh beginnings, and the calming still right before the rain starts to trickle down from the clouds to the trees to me.
To my hands there is not a more gratifying touch than the feel of a finely knitted scarf as it hugs my neck, providing a secure, warm hug from the chilling morning breeze.
Today is the first day of fall and to tell you the truth, I couldn’t be happier. While summer was a beautiful, chaotic hot mess, I’m ready for mother nature to magnificently shed its former beauty for the trees and the skies to have a fresh start. I too am ready for a fresh start; I am ready to turn over a new leaf and welcome autumn.

How magical is Autumn! Embracing the beauty of Autumn is one of my most favorite times of the year.
You can just whisper - sometimes to yourself’
Embracing the beauty of Autumn! Showcased in all of its russet glory, like a fresh watercolor painting each morning, changing day by day.
However, sometimes, melancholy begins to set in and many look ahead with anxiety towards the long months of the temperature dropping quickly and staying low over a long period of time. Those dark mornings and early nights can play havoc on our emotions and serotonin levels.
I have lived in the northern hemisphere (from sunny Australia) for six
And I have to be honest, the first few Autumn and Winters were rough. Very rough.
I really felt the effects os a lack of sunshine and Vitamin D, which I was SO used to absorbing for many months of the year.
I was cold, All of the Time, And I was pretty miserable and lonely.
particularly embracing the beauty of Autumn, with its promise of
fresh beginnings and changed routines.
She encouraged me to look at September and the following months as bringing an enjoyable sense of purpose and also finality to the year. To not dread those months but welcome their abilities to change our daily rhythms and bring us fresh joy.
And it worked! In spades. I now embrace the beauty of Autumn in all of its wholeness and organic joy.
How Embracing The Beauty Of Autumn Can Work For You.
1. Rug up and get outdoors
We love visiting pumpkin patches and spending a few hours picking the best ones to paint, decorate and display at home.
2. Treat yourself to pretty wellies or walking boots.
It will make getting outside and picking all of those luscious colorful leaves even more enjoyable.
3. Move forward with a quieter purpose.
4. Maintain a sense of mindfulness and draw your family near.
The joy is in the ease of being together and lack of effort!!
5. Build community.
Mutual support and shared experiences always make the world of difference.
These were absolute game-changers for me.
Some of the things we now view as traditions when Autumn arrives.....
The anticipation of steaming, comforting bowls of warm pumpkin and nutmeg soup.
Baking!!! I mean, all the baking!! Cinnamon, apple cake, spicy gingerbread cookies, plum jam drops. All the enticing aromas of spices with a hint of Christmas promise around the corner.
Bring out the snuggly and chunky knitted rugs and a whole host of beautifully scented candles to be lit when the sun sinks behind the horizon quite early in the afternoon.
Lots of lovely hot drinks and posh, decadent hot chocolates (yes there is such a thing!). Find the link to the recipe here.
Slowing down a few notches, we cuddle our sweet fluffy cats as we find them sporadically around the house, curled into tight, little balls of delight, languishing in a random sun trap or secret space by the open fire.
Keep is simple.
Have a quiet purpose, andAppreciate the small things in life
