Your different Social Media accounts can be hard to manage. Especially if you have different goals in mind for those individual pages. When you want to post on any of your accounts just keep in mind there is a difference between personal social media pages
and business social media pages. Today I have decided to dedicate this article to helping you discern what kind of content that should be posted on which.
Personal Social Media
Personal social media is a way to keep in touch with family and friends who you may not see in everyday life. Here would be the place you share your triumphs, your heartache, and your failures. Your personal page is a place for your friends and family to show their support for you as well as a place for you to vent. It is the place where they can congratulate you on your personal successes and console you on intimate hardships you face.
Your Personal Social Media pages are perfect for:
1. Family Photos
Go ahead and share all the selfies you want. Your friends/family will love to see them.
2. Your Real Name
Your are not trying to plug your brand. Go ahead and use your birth name.
3. Personal Conversations
This is also the place to talk about your nieces milestones and your family vacations. Share your everyday life with those closest to you, even if they happen to be oceans away.
Your friends and family support you in all that you do. So of course they would want the opportunity to know that you are starting a new business. Share this new and exciting adventure with them. Even if you don't feel comfortable divulging a ton of information with them. At least include your company name in your bio.
Its a great way to let them know your starting a new adventure without them feeling pressure to purchase anything from you.
Business Social Media
Your business social media is about networking and growing your brand awareness.
This is the page you use to promote your business as well as connect with others in business.
Hopefully as you grow your accounts you will be able to connect not only with others in business, but also with those who share the same goals. This is accomplished by being professional. Being professional is highly determined by the type of business your in. If you blogging about your kids and your family. Then yes you will end up using family photos, but if you are in retail. Then your pictures should be product based.
Keep them in line with your brand image. You are projecting towards consumers and fellow business.
2. Your Company Name
Utilizing your company name helps in two ways. First it gives your media page a professional feel. Second it also allows every post you make to be associated with your brand.
(The more people see your brand the more comfortable they become with you)
3. Professional Conversations
By keeping your conversations professional you allow others to witness how you interact with other professionals and with customers. This is a helpful and easy way for you to develop and grow trust with your consumers.
Every once in a while it is OK to share a little bit of your personal life on your business page. This enables you to more closely interact with those interested in your band and yourself. Go ahead and share your hobbies/interests. I love sharing my passion for hiking. While hiking dose not pertain to my brand in really any way. I still chose to share it because it helps possible consumers and other business to develop a mind set of who I am as a person. You should try to weave pieces of yourself into your business, but make sure that your business and personal life do not become one.
