Family games are a staple in our holiday traditions. It is one of the activities everyone looks forward to the most. Our holiday-themed games help to encourage uncontrollable laughter, facilitate healthy competition, and bring forth glowing smiles.
We play a variety of games each year, so of them are silly seasonal themed ones, while others are the good old classics like charades. Here are some of the fun-filled games we will be playing this year. Make sure to share your family's tear-filled laughter with us @ThavinMarcob if you also play these games over the holidays.
We played this game over Thanksgiving, and it was a total hit. While you can buy Pictionary, I choose to write down things on pieces of paper and place them in a large vase. If you would like to go the homemade route, this is how I achieved it.
Paper written with drawable actions, places, or things.
Pencil + Paper or Whiteboard + Marker.
How To Play;
Divide into even groups, once there pick which team goes first and which member will draw first. Have them select a piece of paper, read it, then quickly start the time. The team has a minute to call out correctly what the slip of paper says. Once it's guessed and if there is enough time left, the team member drawing picks up another paper and starts again until time runs out. Teams go back and forth until all of the slips of paper have been called out, the team with the most points wins.
Charades is done practically in the same manner as Pictionary.
Written down action, animals, people, or things.
Pen+Paper for score count
How To Play;
Divide into teams; have the group pick a member to go first. The player must then, in a minute, silently act out until their team had made the correct guess. If the player has time, they keep going. Teams go back and forth until all have been guessed; the highest score wins.
Who Am I
This is a game we haven't played before, but I'm thinking it is going to be a hit. There are lots of different ways you can set up this game. Here is one at-home version.
Headband or two
Cardboard cards of holiday figures
How To Play;
Once divided into teams and the first up member is chosen. Have that member using a headband place a card atop their forehead for everyone else to see, but not themselves. Without saying who it is, the other member must give hints as to who the fist up member is. Once the correct guess is made, they pick up another card and start the process over again until the time has run out. The highest score wins.
Roll To Draw
This game is pretty simple and child-friendly. You could add a level of difficulty by either adding in a team, requiring players to run from one end of the room to the other or by adding in more than one die.
Enough dice for everyone
Pencils and Paper
How To Play;
Pick an object or figure for the player to draw. Assign parts of that figure to a corresponding number. For instance, if you were to pick a snowman.
Players must roll the dice over and over again until they can build the figure completely, first one done wins. If you want, you can add in more numbers either with more parts or have empty numbers that correspond to nothing. Have players work in teams, each member must roll and draw before they can pass it off to another, or have some distance separate the rolling station and drawing station. This way, your players have to run one way to roll and the other way to draw, creating hilarious chaos.
This game is simple and delicious for all ages.
Prebaked cookies of any kind or shape
Frosting + Sprinkles
Plastic bags for piping or knives/spoons for spreading
How To Play;
Choose whether or not this is a timed event. Give each player a cookie and access to frosting and sprinkles. Then simply say go and watch everyone creatively decorate their cookie. Once everyone is completed judge who is the most festive, visually appealing, or unique, it's up to you. Whomever you choose is the proud cookie decorating winner.
If you make it at home, this game is only as tricky as you want it to be.
Paper for trivia questions + score count
How To Play;
Play as a group where everyone is an individual team or play in groups. Once that is decided, read off the trivia questions and start the timer. The player has a minute to answer as many as possible correctly if they do; they get the point; if not, the card goes back in the stack. The highest score wins the game.
Here are some of the games my family and I will be playing this holiday season.

We can all agree that during the holiday season, there are key colors that just immediately scream seasons joy. I love a little holiday cheer as much as the next woman, but in most circumstances, I don't want my fashions screaming at you. I would rather they twinkle and shine dusting you in a magical glow haze of wonder. In my eyes, no two more magnificent colors to style for that classic elegant holiday feel are green and gold.
Sneak In The Seasonal Spark
Tossing on a piece of jewelry that is sure to sparkle and shine when it catches the lights creating you as your own twinkling holiday ornament is a great way to sneak in a little seasonal joy in a non-obnoxious way. Another way to sneak in some seasonal cheer is by placing a beautifully colored throw blanket alongside your couch, creating not only a beautiful seasonal vibe but also creating the perfect spot for movies and snuggles.
Sometimes you just want to be comfortable and functional while also possessing the holiday spirit. A simple tee with a cute phrase or image paired with boots and your favorite pair of leggings or jeans. Places you ideally in the realm of the holidays are here, but I still have to go about my day as usual.
It is the season for fun festive parties. Show up in radiant fashions that sing classic elegance while also perfectly in tune with all of the holiday jams you'll be dancing the night away to.
Our Gather In Green & Gold Mood Board is all about fashions for your home or yourself that are perfect matches to the holidays but keep the holiday screams to a lovable level of classic elegance. Whether it is a green fuzzy jacket, a melted gold metal jumpsuit, or a beautifully blended wool throw, you'll be fit to celebrate the holidays in spectacular style.
