Bullet Journaling is this new thing that seems to making
its way not only across the web, but into everyday conversations. I decided to be adventurous and give
this cool new idea a try.
Welcome to Part One of Two.
In Part One I'll explain how to see up a Bullet Journal. Which admittedly was quite intimidating at first.
Gathering the correct supplies is the first place to start your Bullet Journal Journey off right.
1. Blank Journal
There are a variety of Journals to choose that would be the perfect place to house your Bullet Journal. I went with one that I knew could fit easily into my purse. This way I could ensure that I had the capability to go with me everywhere I went. Although when it comes to your Bullet Journal choose a journal that will best suit your wants and needs, This way you can ensure more accurately that it will be a successful adventure of Bullet Journaling.
2. Pens in Multiple Colors
When walking through the office supplies of any store it can be quite outrageous the amount of different varieties of pens that there are available. Choose which ever you are most comfortable with using. Although I do suggest that you get a few pens in different colors that way you have the option to color code or exaggerate things in your journal.
When browsing online of different Bullet Journal Ideas. I noticed that a lot of people love to express themselves artistically. Through the addition of beautiful details. I sadly am not very artistic so to make up I ordered Calendar some Stickers Online.
Where to start
A journal full of blank pages can feel kind of scary. Those were the exact thoughts that were running through my mind as I was thinking of how to start my journal. I can to the conclusion that the best place to start with would be to create a Key. I used the customary symbols that others used. Although this is your Bullet Journal so feel free to use any symbols that you feel most comfortable with.
Above is a Snap Shot of what my Bullet Journal Key looks like. The important elements that should be included in the Key are Titles such as:
Chose which symbol will accompany each title. This will help your pages be more organized as you begin to fill your pages. I went ahead and added a check mark to show which were completed, cancelled, or if they moved to another time
(migrated). I then continued to separate using Color Coding.
My plan is that my Bullet Journal will focus on
5 Key Elements:
Once my Key was Completed. I made sure to skip a few pages in order to leave room for an Index. I decided not to start with the index mainly because I wasn’t sure where I wanted to start. All of the articles that I read made the process sound a lot harder than it needed to be. For now I’m good with simple lists. My first list of Ideas for
I wasn't really sure where to start. After much contemplation I came to the conclusion that the best place to start my writing was to jot down ideas that I had about our Adventure Tuesdays.
The Thing with adventure Tuesday is
First we have to come up with ideas of things we would like to experience. As well as to make sure and include in activities that we already know we love doing.
Second is being flexible and knowing that not all these activities can actually take place on a Tuesday.
I wrote down the basics like trips to the museum and picnics. Then something spectacular happened. I started to think of things I had never done before, but have always thought about doing, like riding a train! Once I started writing and talking as a group of things we would like to do for our Adventure Tuesday. It happened, I truly did fall in love. At that exact moment I fell in Love with
I have started to create other lists. I'm also working on the weekly planner part of the journal. I'm personally really loving Bullet Journaling. I think that it is the solution that I have been looking for forever.
I'm loving Bullet Journaling and would love to hear and see about your experience with it. Share your thoughts on Bullet Journaling through our Comments Section or by using #ThavinMarcob.
Have a Great Weekend!
In case you somehow missed it The First Day of Spring was two weeks ago Wednesday. It's arrival has still been much anticipated by not only myself, but by my entire household. We can not wait for all of the fun Spring Activities and Adventures to Commence.
How I Love To Say Hello To Spring
One -- Visit the Tulip Festival
The Tulip Festival happens every year in Skagit County. It's a real treat to be able to pass by the fields and see the Flowers begin to bloom. It is even more amazing being ab le to visit the farms and see the flowers beautiful colors up close and personal. It's a sight that never fails to simply take my breath away.
Two -- A Trip Into The Woods
The winter snow is getting ready to melt away. Which means it is the perfect time to go and explore the mountain trails once again. Walking through the woods and seeing Spring start to spring up among the trees is one of my favorite things about Spring.
Three -- Spring Cleaning
Deep cleaning your home can actually be quite magical. The air seems to feel lighter, the house has a fresh smell to it, and the things around you finally feel organized, and decluttered. While admittedly deep cleaning your home my not be the most exciting thing in the world. It is definitely a bittersweet, but very necessary thing.
Four -- Reading Outside
This activity is one of My Top Favorite Spring Past Times.
I love being outside just laying around curled up with a good book. I love being able to sit outside while Spring beings to make its presence known to the nature around me.

Have a Fabulous Wednesday.
When my kids were small Spa Days were far and few between. There was always someone that needed to be somewhere or something that needed to be done right away. Now that my children are older, I am fortunate enough to be able to visit the Spa more often than I ever would have dreamed.
The entire family takes apart and contributes to help run and maintain ThavinMarcob. It is by no means a one woman show. This plus considering my children are older, and that our La Conner Boutique is across from a Salon and Spa. The stars aligned so perfectly that I was able to get an no fuss facial. Which is hands down one of the best facials to get. No one likes to feel like they have to plan and maneuver their pampering days. Pampering days are about relaxing and taking time to treat yourself.
I made an appointment at Forever Young Hair and Spa.
Cat the owner took the time to look over my skin. Took the time to learn about what I wanted to achieve. She then provided her own professional insight about how best to achieve my skin goals. All in all it was one of the most relaxing facials I have ever had! Cat recommended starting with a pumpkin peel. I've never had a peel let alone a pumpkin one. So the experience was new and interesting, not to mention exciting and extremely relaxing. After the treatment, I'm not lying when I say my skin felt amazing.
If you guys are close to La Conner. Forever Young Hair and Spa is located just across from Our Boutique.
It is actually her Birthday Today. Everyone from the ThavinMarcob Family Wishes you a Well and Happy Birthday! We Hope you not only have a Great Day, but an Amazing Year.
When you find yourself in La Conner Washington make sure to stop by the Forever Young Hair and Spa.
Plan ahead and Call to Make an Appointment to receive an Amazingly Relaxing and Inexpensive facial.

Happy Friday Everyone!
Did you know that today is National Puppy Day!
I had no idea that such a day even existed.
Seeing as today is National Puppy Day I thought I'd share a little bit about my beloved pups.
Side Note--While they are not actual puppies any more. They will always be my babies.
Noble is actually my pup.
She was given to me as a gift for my 30th birthday.
Her age for the longest time never really showed. She was always bouncing around, jumping, and barking. Noble for the longest time was actually known in our house for being the Best of the Best when it came to jumping. She is only about 2 feet tall, but she could easily jump up to the height of a 6ft man. One of the funniest moments that I have of my precious pouch is of her jumping over a 1oft high stone wall. For a few year the house we occupied has a stone wall as a fence. While looking at the house my husband and I were in love with the wall. It provided privacy, looked like something our of Home and Garden, and would act as the perfect fence to keep the dogs and kids inside the year. Although we discovered within the first week that this was not the case because Noble my 2ft dog. Could simply jump over. I have even seen her do it. She not only made it look incredibly easy, but she looked absolutely hilarious while doing so. It honestly looked like she could fly. She didn't really require that much of a running start. She would simply stand back from the wall. What appeared to be charging her back legs with as much power as possible and the leap. She'd just leap over this 10ft wall as if it were a small rain puddle. Although knowing that she could jump over the wall was slightly annoying because now we would need to monitor her while she was outside. It still was one of the absolute best things because she was just so darn good at jumping over a wall that I would need two ladders to get over. Sadly however as time wore on she became older and her ability to jump to such great heights diminished. She now snores as loud as a bear. Sometimes the sounds she makes are hilarious that I can't help, but to let out a laugh or two. I also can't help, but smile when I hear her snore. Just knowing that she is sleeping makes me incredibly happy. Noble is a very sweet and extremely loving dog. She still loves to follow me from room to room. She however funny enough gets frustrated when I move around too much and won't just sit down. Since she is so old and admittedly a little pudgy for her size. She does not like to walk up and down the stair half a billion times. We have actually discovered a new character trait about she in the last year or so. In order to help her with weight management. We decided that we would go ahead and change the schedule at which she eats. Now Noble does have her mean streaks, but I have never seen her as mean as she gets when it comes to food. Just by simply changing her feeding schedule my dog went into full freak out mode and got rather aggressive. She started to eat whatever she could find. It didn't matter if it came from the trash bin or if it was even edible. She would eat it. It was one of the strangest things to bare whiteness to because Noble has never been that type of dog. Even though it was strange and concerning. Our family still shared a few laughs over it because in all Nobles years being a part of our family we had no idea that she felt so strongly about food.
This is Noble she is My Best Friend and has been for over a decade now. She knows when I'm happy. She knows when I'm sad. Just like I know when she is happy or sad. She has always been there for me just as I will always be there for her. Love you Noble, Happy National Puppy Day!
Our beloved McQueen is actually Noble's Baby. Noble was the first puppy that I have ever had. So when it came to having her spayed it just slip my mind. That however will always be okay with me because in return we got McQueen. Over the years McQueen really bonded with Gavin my fourth child. Those two are practically inseparable. If Gavin finds himself gone for the day. McQueen will wonder the house not knowing what to do with herself because her Best Friend is not home to play. When he does come home she is immediately by his side. she will even stand right outside the bathroom door waiting for him to come back out. McQueen is a very loving and affectionate dog. Any chance she gets she will smother you in kisses. It has been this way since she was a puppy. She is not an attention seeking dog, she just always wants to show you her love. Which is something that my family and I are incredibly grateful for because there is not better feeling than feeling loved. One of the best things about McQueen is that she has Eyebrows. They are the best because we can always tell what she is thinking based off of her facial expressions. This trait has only gotten stronger as our wonderful pup has gotten older and her face is filled with more white hair. She is an absolutely amazing dog that even at her old age still reminds me of a puppy. We are under the suspicion that she still carries the mannerism of a puppy so to speak because her and Noble have never been a part from each other. Not even for a single day. They always go hand in hand since the day McQueen was born. This little fact is not only incredibly cute and heart warming in my opinion, but also very satisfying that I was able to give McQueen a home and allow her to grow up with her parents. Even though we are not 100% sure if they are aware that they are mother and daughter. We like to think that they know. Which makes everything feel all the more perfect.
This is McQueen. She is filled with love that she just can't help, but to share. She is always there when you need to be cheered up or need a good ear to listen to you when you're feeling down. McQueen is always ready for a surprise day in the sun or a lazy day on the couch. She is an incredible pup with some great brows. She is not only Gavin's Best friend, but Gavin is also her Best Friend. Which fills my heart to the brim with warm fuzzy feelings and love. We Love you McQueen, Happy National Puppy Day.
Knight unfortunately passed away about a year ago, but I felt that because he was such a large part of my families lives he was definitely worth mentioning. Knight was actually my oldest daughters dog. They were each others Best Friend. There are so many funny memories that come to mind when I think of our old friend. One of the first incredibly hilarious and insanely infuriating moments that jumps to mind when thinking of him. It the first Christmas that he shared with our family. As decoration for the tree and as a fun little art project for the children to do. We made popcorn strings to line the tree with. If you have ever made one you know that sometimes they can be quite difficult and with five children trust this was not only an art project, but a family event. As everyone put in much hard meticulous work the popcorn strings were done and we happily wrapped them around the tree. At this time I actually still used glass Christmas ordainments instead of plastic ones. One day as my family and I left the house. We unknowingly come home to our Christmas Tree shattered and scattered all over the floor. Knight had decided to Eat The Tree while we were gone. He actually ate our tree. He winded up knocking it over and shattering all of the glass ball. So that he could more easily access the popcorn strings. At the time I can not tell you how much anger and frustration this little pup managed to fill me with. I remember being so upset. How could it not cross my husbands or my mind that putting popcorn on a tree filled with glass ordainments sounded like a good idea with a puppy in the house. Even though in the moment I was insanely irritated with Knight. It is now a fond memory that I pull out whenever thinking of him. It never fails to bring a smile on each of our faces as well as fill our heats with love and joy and plenty of laughter.
This is Knight while even though he is gone he is not forgotten and will always be missed. He was such a huge part of my families lives and will forever be. He was an incredible dog that never failed to make each one of us laugh everyday he was with us. We love him and miss him immensely. Happy National Puppy Day Knight, we love you.
A Look Back In Pictures
In writing about the puppies. I began to realize how much of an impact they had on the kids while they were growing up!
here are a few of my favorite moments with the younger boys and their best friends!
Our puppies may actually be dogs and not puppies anymore, but we love to celebrate them any chance we get because they really do add so much to our lives. They are apart of our family and deserve to be shown some of the incredible love back that they give us.
How do you plan to Celebrate National Puppy Day?
Happy Friday Everyone.

Flowers are hands down one of the easiest ways to bring a little sunshine into your home. The great thing is that you do not need an elaborate expensive bouquet of flowers. You can easily invite sunshine into your home with wild flowers you pick out of the forest.
Here are My Top Five ways to add flowers into your home!
The Kitchen in my opinion is the easiest room to add a welcoming group of flowers to. I found this Silver Pitcher at a thrift store for $3.00 roughly 10 years ago. This is the perfect example of ones of those amazing thrift store finds. Even 10 years later it is still being used. In the image below all I did was add a simple $20.00 bouquet of flowers I found at my local grocery store. The great thing that I love about this vase and bouquet is that it travels so well to our outside dinner table.
Special Side Note:
If you desire a year round feeling. Something that can easily move from season to season without missing a beat. Try potting some herds. They can be easily found and are typically inexpensive to obtain.

I love waking up to the smell of flowers next to my bed. There is no better smell on a Monday morning than the smell of fresh flowers. I love to have small bouquets all around my room. This way the aroma of the wonderful flowers encapsulates my room. As if I were sleeping in a peaceful secret little garden escape of my own.

Special Side Note:
Keep things inexpensive by using Mason Jars to place your flowers in. You can also just as easily use old Spaghetti Jars.

The Entry Way
If you have an entry way in your home. Take advantage of the perfect place to place an arrangement of flowers. It is a great place to first invite the sunshine into your home. I personally love to hang rosemary off of our door.
Special Side Note:
A Great way to save money and invite the Sunshine into your house is yo utilize potted plants.Head over to your local farmers market or local gardening center. You can typically always find great flowers or herbs on the cheap.

The First Day of Spring is March the 20th.
Which is just two days away.
Are you ready for the Spring?
I know that I am extremely excited for the Spring Season to Commence. I can't wait to enjoy all of the fun adventures Spring promises to offer.
Everyone knows that the Spring Season means that some much needed Spring Cleaner is in order. I know for me personally when Spring hit I make a list of things that need to be cleaned. I typically make my list in order of importance and urgency. For instance my list will go; Oven, Behind Fridge, Bathrooms, Car... However every year there never fails to be several things that I simply forget about or things that find themselves at the bottom of my list. In all honestly after I complete the major ones. The motivation to keep going becomes less and less until I find myself mid April and decide to just forget about my Spring Cleaning List All Together.
I do not want this to happen this year. So I have decided to make it one of my first priorities to accomplish and clean the little things that always seem to be forgotten.
Here are four things that seem to allude me every year.
I always forget to clean the cover to the lights on my ceilings. I know I can not be the only one that sometimes forget to look up. It's a little funny that I tend to forget to clean the covers because when you think about it. Those little covers and there cleanliness determine the amount of clear undisturbed light that is able to fill your room. I plan to just pop mine into the dishwasher and move on to the next item on my Spring Cleaning List.
Don't Forget to Clean the covers on your cleaning lights. Make it one of the first things you Conquer on your list.
I am actually very good at remembering to clear off the book shelf and wiping it down. I am however bad at remembering to appreciate the amazing book that fill its shelves. This year I am going to make sure to take the time to read and appreciate the wonderful books that I have on my beloved book shelf. Remember that Spring Cleaning does not necessarily have to mean physically cleaning something. It can mean what you want it to. You are the boss, you make the rules, and you run your life.
Is there something in your life that you tend to neglect? Make it an item on your Spring Cleaning List. Don't just think about power housing through your list. Remember that there is Adventure To Be Found In The Journey.
Do you own any Tote Bags or Reusable Grocery Shopping Bags? I happen to have plenty. They are truthfully one of my favorite things. I love using a tote bag for a day at the beach, a stroll through a farmers market, and as a handy bag to through spare clothes in when adventure call. I use Reusable bags any chance I get. Seeing as I use them so often, they do collect a lot of dirt. So in honor of Spring Cleaning I plan to take the time to wash all of my tote bags. This way they are clean and ready to go when my next Adventure Calls.
Don't forget to clean your Beloved Tote Bags! These handy items can be easily forgotten when you start to develop your Spring Cleaning List. Don't Forget them this year, make it a top priority. I know I will
Curtains and Drapes
Do you remember to wash your Curtains or Drapes? I'm no different from most and sometimes I forget. After a while they just become a part of the wall and I forget that they are pieces of fabric that get dirty and dusty like anything else. I plan to wash all my Curtains and Drapes this Spring.
When was the last time you washed your curtains or drapes? If its been a while, make sure to add it to the top of your Spring Cleaning List.
Hello Spring, Hello Spring Cleaning

For this weeks Adventure I decided that a pampering day was in order. I do believe that everyone needs to find the time to treat themselves. I think it is important and will definitely keep you sane when life gets crazy and almost unmanageable.
To start off our pampering session we first did a little browsing through our local shops to see if we could find any goodies. Once our curiosity was satisfied we then headed to enjoy ourselves with a nice lunch out.
We enjoyed great food and had great conversations. It was honestly so nice to just sit down and talk over food without having to discuss something that needs to be done urgently.
Once lunch and some great conversation was complete. We made our way to the nail spa. Where we indulged in an incredibly relaxing manicure and pedicure.
An added little bonus that we got to enjoy while on our drive home. Was being able to see the Daffodil Fields. They are just starting to bloom. Trust when I say it is an incredible sight. One that I believe everyone should get to see.
Our Adventure Tuesday was in short rather simple and plain, but it was still an adventure to us. We had a blast exploring shops, talking about pure nonsense, and having yourselves papered with a nice manicure and pedicure. Not for forget the added bonus of getting to drive by the Daffodil fields. This week our Adventure Tuesday was simple and plain, but still an Adventure.
I hope you are having a Great Wednesday.

Name a place, I'll probably be able to pull a magazine out. I just truly enjoy reading them and they are the perfect solution when you find yourself a little bored. Waiting for my children in the car, I'll pull out a magazine to pass the time. Waiting for the water to boil for dinner, I pull out a magazine. I actually have a few magazines that I would consider to be my Top Favorites. Since magazine and I for the most part go hand in hand. I thought that today's blog post would be the perfect place to share with you my
Top Favorite Magazines.
Do you have an occasion or specific time in which you will pull out and read a magazine?
My Top Favorites
While Pinterest is all the rage when it comes to finding New and Exciting recipes. I personally still love picking up a copy of Cooking Light for Inspiration. Don't get me wrong I still browse Pinterest for Great New Fun Ideas, but to me nothing beats a good copy of a cooking magazine. I love Cooking Light specifically because they have some of the Easiest Everyday Healthy meals around. A bonus in my eyes is that they explain the recipes extremely well. So there is never an instructional fail. Which means each meal while maybe mot delicious to my taste buds is always prepared correctly. I know when cooking there is nothing more infuriating than not understanding the directions.
This Fashion magazine is still and will most likely be my all time favorite. I tend to flip through the magazine studying the images to see what is On Trend for the Season. I love fashion and love to see what amazing Trends are going to be walking the streets that Season.
This is my go to magazine for Organizing. They have great hacks on how to organize your home. While my effort is attempted some how I can never make mine look that the stylish and fabulous images they showcase. Even with that the Tips and Tricks are always useful in helping provide order within my house.
Is the magazine I use to fuel my dream of perfectly clean white living rooms, manicured backyards, and reading nooks galore. I have a husband, five children, two dogs, and a cat. At this point in my life white living rooms and perfectly sculpted lawns are out of my reach. That however sits just fine with me because I love my family. Each mess is a memory filled with shared laughter. Although it never hurts to dream.
Fun Fact - I always buy my magazines in Print.
There are a few reason why I prefer Print over Electronic. I love being able to physically hold the magazine and flip through the pages. I also love to dog ear or rip out pages when I encounter something that just encapsulates my interest.
